How does an air source heat pump work?
They use a small amount of electricity to operate and work a bit like your fridge — but in reverse, even working in winter temperatures as low as -20c.
- The heat pump contains a liquid that absorbs heat from the outside air.
- The heat pump compresses the liquid to increase its temperature.
- The heat from the liquid is transferred to your heating system.
- The heat is transferred to your hot water tank giving you water temperatures up to 70c. Plenty for your radiators and hot water.
